One of the nation’s leading publishers seeks a Sr. Project Manager to drive large-scale Program(s) and Project(s) across many areas within Information Technology (IT), spanning multiple Business units and geographies. The direct hire role based in Princeton, NJ, offers amazing pay and benefits!

Strong project management skills, as well as technical knowledge of IT processes in applications and systems are paramount to the success of the role, as it integrates both technical and functional Business requirements.

Ideal candidates will have experience managing offshore partnerships and the capacity to manage at the focused Project-level as well as reporting up and ensuring synchronicity at the Program-level.

 

Senior Project Manager Responsibilities: 

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Managing a multi-year modernization Program of outdated, legacy applications within the Business – including the management of offshore partners responsible for the application technology refresh
  • Oversite and control of large Program SOW’s, their related budgets, and all timelines
  • Managing large scale Projects of varying nature within IT
  • Collaborating, guiding, managing the deliverables of multi-disciplinary teams (e.g. Analysts, Developers, QA/Test Teams, etc.) across the Organization to ensure all elements of a Project are in order
  • Setting up processes to support and guide Program/Project teams on Project Management best practices
  • Preparing and presenting status reports and other reporting as required by the Project Management Office (PMO) and Leadership to ensure that all Program and/or Project outputs are documented and communicated thoroughly
  • Adhering to the standards set by the PMO and functions/methodologies thereof
  • Ability to quickly understand and interpret Business needs, breakdown Business problems analytically, and clearly articulate/present defined solutions

 

 

Senior Project Manager Job Qualifications:

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
  • 7+ years of strong Program and Project Management experience – managing both cross-functional and cross-disciplinary internal teams, as well as distributed in-house & offshore teams, to successfully deliver large size Program(s) and Project(s)
  • Proven track record successfully managing, executing, and delivering Program(s) and Project(s) spanning years with multi-million-dollar budgets
  • Specifically managed Program(s) and Project(s) involving infrastructure, data migration, systems integrations, and frontend/backend application modernization
  • Technical expertise and a working understanding of the development process (e.g. SDLC; CI/CD; coding and programming; code deployments); data analysis and technical writing skills; and the ability to interpret, translate, and drive the technical deliverables from both internal and external working teams
  • Expertise managing and driving all aspects of Program(s) and Project(s) – including resources, schedules, issues, risks, change requests, financials, etc., to adhere to a successful phased delivery, whilst monitoring and controlling workflow throughout the full application and systems development life cycle
  • Expertise presenting to Program/Project teams, internal/external Stakeholders, and Leadership Teams to articulately deliver complex ideas and translate technical concepts into non-technical terms
  • Expertise in the understanding and practical application of Waterfall, Agile, and other appropriate best practice Project Management methodologies
  • Expertise working with Project Management tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, MS Project, and SharePoint) and MS O365 Product Suite (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in group settings, and drive work with teams onsite and remotely across multiple geographic regions and time zones
  • Ability to quickly learn Business processes (publishing, marketing, media production, financial ops, etc.)
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, and high-energy, with a willingness to accept varied assignments
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally, dependent upon Business needs
  • Understanding of the publishing industry is a plus
